It’s Day 15 of Advent, only 10 days to go! Perhaps this was the day the Magi, wise men, started on their trip to Bethlehem? I havent seen the Christmas star yet in the North Carolina, evening skies but I know I will spot it soon. It will be the star that shines the brightest. Twinkle, Twinkle (did you listen to their little voices?). These children reminded me of a young man I met today, Ruben I wonder how his Christmas will be this year in Columbia? Ruben started shining shoes at the age of 6, and fled one night with his mother and sister from an abusive father. As I took a video/audio tour of his life today my heart was wrecked. I shouldnt do this, but I compared and thought of the abundance of gifts many of our children will receive at Christmas, I am sure Ruben doesnt have a clue about video games; however, he is an expert on poverty . Ruben does have a happy ending to his story (so far) he found a family to sponsor him at Compassion.com As I looked for a child to sponsor like Ruben, I searched the longest child waiting, for a sponsor and found, Solans Claris Venancio Palacios, she has been waiting 409 days There are many more children waiting for sponsorship.
