Week Fourteen

Easter, the Scapegoat and the Villages

The Easter Bunny hopped into North Carolina and brought us a spectacular Easter Sunday, blue skies, 73 degree  weather, and sunshine in abundance.  As they say here in the South we were blessed!  “This is the day the Lord has made and we rejoice in it!”   I couldnt help but notice the beautiful ladies and little daughter’s Easter dresses (I didnt see any Easter bonnets that I remember ladies wearing in England).  I said to a friend after adoring these ladies’ dresses that I need to step up my game!  but I realized that my life was not the same as theirs (perhaps by choice or avoidance).  My day started on a Bald Head Island where I rose early, cleaned the cottage  like crazy for our Easter guests, hopped onto the 8:30 am Ferry and drove like crazy, 150 miles to attend the 12noon easter service (with an excursion of 10 miles to pick up a friend who I wanted to hear the easter service.)   The service was “glorious” and so worth the drive and my tardy outfit.  (Who judges a book by it’s cover / my jeans? no one right? oops everyone so I hear).  Next Easter I plan on purchasing a beautiful dress.  I hope I receive the message in the same way wearing my dress and not my blue jeans. The service resurrected my gratitude of all the wonderful things that happened in my week.

1)  Spending time with my daughter and picking her wedding dress (ooowh tears) and the bridesmaid dresses.

2)  Listening to the excitment in my son’s voice as he told me he was going to attend the Masters’ golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia.

3) Spending time on Bald Head Island and in nature and experiencing a giggly, roll-a-coaster ride on the Ferry crossing over the Cape Fear River this morning as the waves rose and fell.

4)  Running 11 miles on Satruday with my girlfirends.  So grateful for these wonderful ladies!

5)  Eating fun, easter cup cakes, chocolate eggs, and hot cross buns.

6) Buying a beautiful ham and meeting an old student who worked at the store.  What a magnificient young woman!

7) Eating shrimp and grits again! Gourmet! *****

) Watching two movies:  The Consiprator, Robert Redford’s movie about President Lincoln’s assasination, and the Descendants with George Clooney, blah, dont remember much about thatmovie.

9) Remembering two villages at Eastertime in England, Hillmorton and Pailton. Envisioning the tulips and daffodils in bloom and the beautiful landscape, green lawns, and fields.

10) Remembering the old, quaint, historic church in Pailton.   I am sure the church bells rang this morning! and the name plate in the church garden, William Harold Randle (hey Dad).
