Week Seven

“Rain Water Harvesting”

I had the privilege this week of attending a lecture about the importance of rain water harvesting, to collect, contain, and conserve.    To me this means capturing the rain water, from my traditonal home, thru the roof gutters where the rain water will trickle thru the downspouts, then into water, storage collection vessels.  There are a huge variety of water, storage vessels, some trendy, some huge but the most important task of these vessels is to recycle the water back into use, for me that would mean my house for toilet flushing, and laundry.  I did not quiet understand or feel safe about recycling the rain water into my house for drinking water.  However, I then thought if the recycled rainwater was pushed thru an eSpring water filter (oops an Amway product) then that would be fine.  I didnt know there is / or will be a shortage of water.   I was also reminded about the ancient practice of storing and recycling water – we sure do complicate things in this 21st century.  Let’s go back to simplicity.  Anyhow I have a (another) new mission in life to capture and recyle my rainwater.   Another interesting thing to the lecture about rainwater was a reconnection to the understanding about the importance of the element water and the significance it has in our lifes.  After a six  hour commute of listening to Wayne Dyer’s CDs, I heard him say  water is felixible, not stiff (it bends);  it  is gentle to the touch and can be found in many forms: oceans, rivers, springs, rain, fog, mist, snow, hail  (just like us humans we come in many forms.)  Anyhow, more to ponder about the signifiance of water, energy and the green lifestyle.  Now to the 10 most wonderful things of my week:

1) Valentines Day and knowing Cupid was in the air.

2) Watching a great video of a friend’s first, advertising video.

3) Running 3 miles in the rain.

4) Giving up the “belly fat diet”

5) Looking at photos of my son and girlfriends pics in Cancun.

6)  Thinking about my beautiful daughter in her wedding dress (to be)

7) Eating chocolate strawberries.

8 Reconnecting with living simply.

9) Being on Bald Head Island and in the cottage, i.e., scents, nature, ocean, sage candles, ferries, crab dip, salads, people, turtles,  gifts and privilege (so fortunate)

10)  Watching Oprah and Witney’s interview,  their powerful connection, their final words,  “I love you.”  A devine connection!  and the class of  Witney Houston “some things are better unsaid……”   “I thought I’d never make it through”;  “I didnt know my own strength”;  “My Mama said I was not built to break” ; “Now I know my own strength”; “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all !”

You did it girlfriend!  🙂
