I was reminded today is Ash Wednesday marking the beginning of Lent – in remembrance of when Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the desert, where he endured temptation by Satan. So today, black ashes are place on the foreheads of the faithful in the sign of the cross as a symbol to signify repentance before God “Repent, and believe the Gospel” Mark 1:15
“In the Catholic Church, Ash Wednesday is observed by fasting, abstinence from meat, and repentance – a day of contemplating one’s transgressions.” As a little girl I would give up sweets for Lent, today I cleanse from toxic foods, caffeine and alcohol in honor of preparing for glorious Easter Sunday!
