Week Fourteen Easter, the Scapegoat and the Villages The Easter Bunny hopped into North Carolina and brought us a spectacular Easter Sunday, blue skies, 73 degree  weather, and sunshine in abundance.  As they say here in the South we were blessed!  "This is the day the Lord has made and we rejoice in it!"   I couldnt help but notice the beautiful ladies and little daughter's Easter dresses (I didnt see any Easter bonnets that I remember ladies wearing in England).  I said to a friend after … [Read more...]

Week Thirteen (I missed a beat)  April Fool's day arrived early and I realized after playing a few "fool" tricks on  folks, like the normal one, I had won the lottery, (I should try and become more creative but,) here in the US it was the week of the largest Mega pay-out ever of 1/2-a-$billion; and then continued to play silly other tricks with folks that my commitment to write a weekly block passed me by and I am now a few days late.   Therefore, I am going to post another snippet of a poem I … [Read more...]

Week Twelve A Memory (1961) -  A Sestina,  Bluebells  She was a mere three feet tall trampling into the woodsbehind him to gather the slender green stemmed  buebellsgigantic trees surrounded her, their leaves singing in the windlooking down to pick up the chestnutsoff the damp moss, blinking snowflakes of spotted darknessentered her eyes, yet still she smiled at her brother the noble warrior, explorer of the isolated woodsholding back her nervousness from her brothershe watched him grip his … [Read more...]

Week Eleven Born March 20th, 1932 Happy Birthday Mum! Eighty (80) What an incredible achievement to live 80 years and be in good health and spirit.  My mum always tells me she "still" has her marbles.  I certainly can validate that.  She is a whiz at her cross wordpuzzles and game shows.  Much smarter and quicker at answering those questions than myself and many others.  Pretty remarkable seens as she only went to school until she was 13.  I think my son and daughters college bill was $64K and I … [Read more...]

Week Ten "The Feather" It's Sunday nite and my week ten is nearly over and the clock says I have 45 minutes to write my blog.  I now realize how I have let other stuff  get in my way of reaching my personal goals.  I am so glad I never tasked myself of writing a daily journal.  As my week ended, I was reminded of the little white feather that floats in and out of the Forest Gump's life.  Lite, airy and simple (not how I presently feel being out of balance with my  life (working so much).  Thanks … [Read more...]

Week Nine "Tornados - A Violent Whirlwind" Tornados ripped through the Midwest this week,  the news read that  34 million people were in the "high" or "moderate" risk categories for severe weather on Friday.  A very tuff week for many.  When I read about people in the towns that were severly damaged the message I read several times, "Thank God my family survived, we will rebuild."  I can only feel compassion and empathy for all of these families,  unless one goes through such devastation it is … [Read more...]
