Happy New Year! – Like millions I wanted to start the New Year a fresh! Free of emotional turmoil, guilt and judgement! 2020 was a tuff year for our world. But now onward. To fulfill my promise of better self care, I have decided on a year of creative projects: to write again, (a life worth living is a life worth recording); take lots of photos (of my family, and of creation); continue the piano lessons; read a lot and watch some good documentaries and movies. Simple life for an introvert! One of my favorite projects this year is to read through two historic books again. Book 1 and Book 2
To start the year hibernating this winter I listened to Homeland Elegies by Ayad Akhtar It was about the perspective of an American-born Muslim post 9/11. Powerful passage: “In chemistry, they have what they call a buffer solution– which keeps things together but always separated. That’s what this country is. A buffer solution” Recommended on President Obama’s reading list, after his own book The Promised Land
My favorite quote to begin this year is “From his cradle to his grave a man never does a single thing which has any first and foremost object but one: to secure peace of mind, spiritual comfort, for himself” – Mark Twain
Till next time blog, #whispersinmyheart
