Week Twenty Two

Change your Brain!  Why?

The 2.5 hour drive from Cary, NC to/fro Bald Head Island, NC  is a pretty straight forward drive on Interstate I-40.  I have driven this route so many times that I could put my little mini on autopilot and she would get me to the Ferry dock on time.  During the drive I take my iPod and play audio books or music.  This week I couldnt help but listen to Dr. Daniel Amen’s “Change your Brain, Change your Body” audio book.  It was memory building 🙂  I had previously read his book so it was a reminder of things to put into action.  My ten favorites things I learned from the book:

1) “Newport Beach, CA , is often called the plastic society because it is said they have more plastic walking around the streets than anywhere else in the world? God will never flood Newport Beach because most of the women will float  (oowh). More people care about their faces, boobs and their bellies than optimizing their brains.”

2) “It is your brain that gives you the face, breasts, butt and overall health one always wanted:  by hydrating, (drink lots of water,  50% of your body weight in ounces, daily); cutting out smoking, alcohol and caffeine and sleeping (7-8 hours daily)”

3) “Cut out ANTS (Automatic, Negative Thoughts)”

4) “Optimize CRON (Calorie Restriction with Optimal Nutrition)”

5) “The stress solution.  Relax you brain to reduce your wrinkles and improve your immune system”

6) “Brain Healthy Foods to improve your weight, skin, heart, energy, and focus:  almonds, almond milk, apples, asparagus, avocados!! (yum), bananas, beans, beets, bell peppers, blackberries, blueberries, page 101…”

7) EXERCISE!

) Reduce sugar and salt!

9) “The brain is the largest sex organ in your body” – and in this case, size really does matter! 🙂 Having a healthy sex life is a key to having a better brain and body” So there it is we all have permission now!
