A beautiful little town I visit often. I so connected with the restaurants, the rivers, the people with the “southern culture/mentality” she describes in the book. Her visual verbiage made me think I was in New Bern, living her story. On a side note, New Bern, NC, is the quaintest little town in NC, but I do think it holds on to it’s secrets? There is a twist in the book that takes us to San Diego, my 2nd favorite city in the US, which I also connected to. I was so into this book of 343 pages that I couldnt put it down and finished reading it within a week; not only did I connect with the town and cities, the family secrets, the losses, siblings complexities, but also the secrets never told by parents who sacrifice for the love of their children. Oh my! let’s never hold on to those secrets!
