It was a beautiful day here in NC. Rose at 5:00am to crisp, cool weather, 45 degrees. The start of the race was at 7:30am, so it was good to have a little time to drink coffee and have my private conversation with myself that I could finish this 1/2 marathon; it had been a while since my last. I just wanted to finish! and after two hours and twenty-one minutes (2:21:37) I crossed the finish line

The Seahorse

When under stress from…… which I create, am I reminded, to breathe, say “this to will pass” and go to gratitude, and think about all of the wonderful things that I have in my life. There are many things on my gratitude list but a dose of a magical island, “Bald Head Island” her wonders, her nature, and our cozy cottage bring me back to the rhythm of life. Nothing is so detox ‘icating for my soul but to sit on the beach (even when chilly) looking over the Atlantic, and read a good book especially if it is a book written by Stephen W. Smith called “Soul Custody.” The book was nourishing, the island rejuvenating and I am back in balance (meaning, y’up I reconnected with what is most important in my life) But, what does all that have to do with the title of my weekly blog, The Seahorse?

“The Seahorse is incredibly unique for many reasons. Unlike most fish, seahorses are monogamous creatures, and rarer still, the male is responsible for bearing offspring.” …… I just fell in love with the Sea Horse’s beauty, and the little card I found in one of our island stores.

I think they call me The Library Card Lady (LCL) because I just love libraries. When I travel, I either frequent a library or an Independent Book Store. These are the houses of wisdom and knowledge and in most cases one doesnt have to pay a fee for the freedom to gain knowledge or need a student loan to acquire the knowledge. When home in the UK one of my favorite places to visit is the Rugby Library. Its location is close to Rugby School where the sport of Rugby was founded. Oh, do we Rubyian’s love the sport of Rugby or maybe the beer drinking afterwards :-), and in the US we have a county library system that is to die for. My favorite library is about two miles away where I constantly visit. In the last month I have digested two audio books and three hard copy books. Plus, I love taking favorite pics of some of my favorite authors.

Happy 84th Dad! Wasn’t it a great day! I heard you shouting, “Come on Lee, you can do it!” as he met challenges in his first Iron Man competition, in Wales. It reminded me of my first marathon race, I wanted to give up at the 18 mile mark and I heard your voice “Come on Jue, you can do this” and I did complete my first marathon and that was back in 2000, and you’ve been with me since on all of my other marathons. So I know you know, Lee completed his first Iron Man, and that’s a first for the Randle name, with an unbelievable time of 11:37. Betcha, you’re so proud! I am! It was totally awesome!

Keep watching over us Dad!

Love you!
