I am sure many of us return to a place where we revisit our childhood memories.  My journal this visit would record 10 memories (8 wonderful memories, 2 not so good):

  1. Countryside:  The English countryside!  I loved walking through the buttercup fields in the village!
  2. Pubs:  Homemade food; I love the lunches! (Favorites: The Old Lion, Harborough Magna; The Queen’s Head Bretford! + many more)
  3. Churches:  St Denys, Pailton, where my father’s ashes are buried; St Johns, Brinklow, where they welcome visitors and ask them to join the Bell Ringers. One can hear the bells ringing several nights a week!
  4. History! (Edward VIII Abdicates~ renounces crown for love). Let’s take a pass on Henry VIII? but there’s centuries of more!
  5. Horses! Cross Country Events; Sue and Nibbles
  6. Royalty! The Queen’s 90th birthday!
  7. Vintage Cars! Honk! Honk!
  8. Family and Friendships! (Love my Mum and Auntie Mo who have shared so much about our family history – it goes back a long way!)
  9. And sad memories of domestic violence
  10. And sad memories of bullies and silent secrets

~ Love this country! even with all it’s pomp and circumstance.  Still a lot to clean up and speak about! I’m voting stay in! ~J
